Internet of Things: Review on security of novel technology

The IOT colours a prescience of a world where all devices are inter-connected and incessantly continue to share our most practical information with each other. This information, in turn enables these products to deliver improved functionality and efficiency to its users, by specially customising the devices based on their requirements. However, there are grave risks involved in this kind of a world where the devices perpetually share users data among each other. With this exponential rise in the production and usage of IoT devices, one of the biggest concern that this tech obsessed society faces is security. With more and more of our household appliances and items being connected to the internet, these facilities makes these devices vulnerable to attacks. Everyday products capable of connecting to the internet are coming into the market and with them, they bring even higher security concerns. Internet of Things which is gaining more traction every day will soon be synonymous with human existence, however its boundaries are not yet well established and neither is it secure[13]. There prevail abundance of security challenges with the present architectures and the technologies which make the cornerstone of the Internet of Things. Security breaches will not only affect businesses but consumers as well and therefore the challenges are immense. The paper focuses on conducting a systematic literature review to find out security challenges faced in IoT and to provide a prospective security framework to mitigate the potentially dangerous association with IoT.
