In recent years, the demand for low-delay and high-throughput wireless communication has increased remarkably, leading to a proliferation of wireless access points (APs) compliant with IEEE Standard 802.11. In order to cope with the increased communication volume, the IEEE 802.11 Standardization Committee launched the IEEE 802.11ax Task Group (TGax), which plans to complete a new standard in 2019. As a method for improving the throughput for each terminal, a dynamic sensitivity control algorithm and basic service set color are being adopted as the main enhancements in IEEE 802.11ax. However, in environments where a large number of terminals and APs are densely arranged, the uplink (UL) throughput of terminals far from the AP may decrease. In this paper, we propose a transmitting opportunity control (TOC) method to improve the UL throughput of terminals far from an AP using a clear-to-send-to-self mechanism. In simulations using the outdoor scenario of IEEE 802.11ax, it was shown that the TOC method increased the minimum transmission throughput.
