Fundamental building block for all-optical scalable quantum networks

The fundamental limits for achieving scalability in all-optical quantum communication settings are addressed. A specific scheme is proposed to reach such a limit in an efficient and fast way, in this respect outperforming the standard version of quantum repeaters and also advanced photonic and matter-based protocols.
