IEEE ComSoc Expands the Portfolio of Its Standards Committee

The IEEE Communications Society (ComSoc) has recently launched five new Standards Committees (SCs), all oriented around a specific technical scope. 1. MobiNet–Mobile Communication Networks Standards Committee; 2. NetSoft–Virtualized and Software Defined Networks, and Services Standards Committee; 3. AccessCore–Access and Core Networks Standards Committee; 4. EdgeCloud–Edge, Fog, Cloud Communications with IOT and Big Data Standards Committee; and 5. GreenICT–Green ICT Standards Committee These new SCs add to the three listed below that have been under Comsoc for several years: 1. Standards Development Board; 2. Power Line Communications; and 3. Dynamic Spectrum Access Networks Standards Committee. An overview of the MobiNet-SC is given by its Chair, Oliver Holland, who will focus on MobiNet's scope and existing Working Groups. In future issues of this Magazine, the other ComSoc SCs will be presented by their respective Chairs.
