Reontologization of the World and of Life
Jean‐Gabriel Ganascia · 2018
This chapter discusses the contribution of the reontologization in the field of ethics. The method of abstraction was conceived to formalize the different levels of approximation of representations by referring to the notion of abstraction used in formal methods developed for software validation in computer science. To describe the successive metamorphoses that accompany the passage of the same individual – or the same entity – from one sphere to another, Luciano Floridi introduced the notion of “reontologization”. Inforgs and the different levels of abstraction come from the same notion that envelops the infosphere, another neologism forged by Luciano Floridi through analogy of terms such as atmosphere, lithosphere or biosphere. The ethics of information requests the respect of all inforgs, whether they are simple avatars of our peers, representatives of their interests in the infosphere or artificial agents carrying information, as long as they do not increase entropy on the whole.
