In this paper, a novel cache management strategy based on local service priority is proposed in the hybrid network-based P2P-CDN video on demand (VOD) system. In traditional cache replacement strategies, such as least recently used (LRU), First Input First Output (FIFO), popularity-based strategy, a node itself only replace the deleted video content according to the video segments in itself. However, this proposed strategy makes full use of the information from super-node in each region of the P2P network, such as the video demand on the common nodes and the time of the videos, optimizing the cache replacement strategy of the common nodes in the region. Experimental results show that the performance of the proposed strategy is better than those of LRU, FIFO and popularity-based cache replacement strategies in terms of content hit and server load.
