Functional Verification for SWIFT DSP Based on Software-Based Simulation and FPGA

With the fast development of Very Large Scale Integration(VLSI), the scale and complexity of Digital Signal Processor(DSP) increase exponentially. In order to gurantee the correctness of function before tape-out of chip, it is important to have sufficient verification work for DSP. Traditional verification method adopts software-based simulation, but the environment of software-based simulation is much different from that of real chip. When the scale and complexity of DSP design increase to a certain extent, the result of software-based simulation may be inconsistent with real chip. This paper proposes a functional verification method based on software and Xilinx FPGA. The proposed method adopts Verilog Hardware Description Language(HDL) and Xilinx ISE tool to verify the SWIFT DSP. The Core, Memory, DMA channels and Wishbone bus components of the SWIFT DSP have generally been proved to be correct after the functional verification.
