Aiming at the problem of the safe operation of the pipeline caused by pipeline geometry deformation, a method of geometrical deformation detection based on laser imaging is proposed. The technology of laser imaging detection and the principle of pipeline geometry deformation are studied. The laser ring image information of the inner wall of the pipeline is obtained by using the power unit with an image acquisition unit in real time, and the laser ring image is grayed out and binarized by MATLAB. The laser ring images are denoised and filtered by canny edge extraction algorithm, The SZ-FG (clock segmentation) algorithm is used to analyze the ellipse and the pixel of the image, and the information such as the location and size of the geometric deformation of the pipeline is obtained. The experimental results show that the method can be used to determine effectively whether the pipeline is geometrically deformed and the deformation position of the pipeline and calculate the geometric characteristics. This method does not require coupling agent with strong anti-interference ability and it provides a new method to detect the geometric deformation of pipeline.
