A Discrete Fruit Fly Optimization Algorithm for Traveling Salesman Problem

A discrete fruit fly optimization algorithm (DFOA) is proposed to solve the traveling salesman problem(TSP). To apply the basic FOA to the discrete domain, some improvement is made to ensure the global optimization ability. A numerous of tests based on standard benchmark instances are employed to test the performance of the DFOA. Simultaneously, the results compared with simulated annealing prove that DFOA is a efficient algorithm to solve TSP.
