Studying effects of TCP Gaping in low bandwidth networks

The silence times in TCP can be used with modification in the original TCP protocol over wireless links so that will improve the TCP performance in low bandwidth networks. The new designed TCP gaps utilize the bandwidth of the network and improves the network performance (loss ratio, maximum throughput, packet drops and buffer size)). This new technique packets find its roots in the network as it's a normal network packet format. The result is discussed by using OPNET simulation tool that performed to evaluate the performance of TCP Gaping and the modified TCP protocol. The result proved that the Gaping technique is more useful than non-gaping one in low bandwidth network.
