Evaluation of cloud platforms for managing IoT devices

Internet of Things (IoT) is increasingly present around us. More and more elements of our home are connected to the Internet and we have the possibility to interact with them. From clocks and smart TVs to everyday objects such as light bulbs or plugs. All these devices are constantly providing information about their position, movement or state. To take full advantage of the possibilities that the IoT paradigm offers us, we must be able to remotely manage and monitor all these devices from anywhere and at any time. To solve this problem cloud platforms for IoT devices arise. These tools allow us, for example, to modify the behaviour of these objects in real time, to automate tasks of everyday life or to optimize energy consumption at home, work, car or any smart space. In this paper we evaluate several platforms to choose the most suitable to our needs. However, none of them fully meet our needs. Therefore, to solve the shortcomings found in the cloud platforms analysed, we have developed a cloud tool that allows monitoring and remote management of a smart home. Finally, we will conduct tests on a real scenario, emulating a smart home, where the management and monitoring of home IoT devices are carried out using cloud tools.
