Two-Dimensional Semantics

Cara Spencer · 2011

Two-dimensional semantics uses a formal apparatus from two-dimensional modal logic to characterize two independent ways in which the evaluation of a sentence depends on context. The two-dimensional framework has been applied to a variety of problems in semantics (indexicals and demonstratives and their interaction with modal operators), pragmatics (presupposition), and philosophy (accounts of the a priori/a posteriori distinction and the psychological/functional roles of thought).
