Recently, there have been advances in Internet of Things (IoT) technology, and many sensors and actuators have been connected to networks (NWs). Previously, IoT services were developed by vertical integration. The Open IoT concept has attracted attention, which enables various IoT services by integrating horizontally separated devices and services. For the Open IoT era, we propose the Tacit Computing mechanism to discover devices with necessary data on demand and use devices in real time. Tacit Computing cooperates with three layers, i.e., the cloud layer, network (NW) layer, and device layer, and carries out processing at the correct location. We also developed and implemented the “Distributed Live Data Search Architecture”, which completes processing around users by using everything connected to the ubiquitous network and collecting huge amounts of data generated near the users. We implemented this architecture to demonstrate the Tacit Computing mechanism.
