The analysis of ancient herding systems: an application of computer simulation in faunal studies
Roger Cribb · 1985
By focussing on subsistence strategies and concepts such as productivity and degree of specialisation, it is possible to derive information about the past which, though lacking in precision, is more attuned to current developments in archaeozoology than are visual inspection or the subjective assessment of kill-off patterns. The model developed reveals trends in the original data that would not otherwise have been observable or quantifiable. -after Author
