Sally Keith · Frontiers of Biogeography · 2018
Biogeography relies increasingly on big data and this short introduction outlines why it is special, how it is stored and concepts for its analysis, including (for better or worse) data mining techniques.Whilst the book contains examples of big data applications, it does not include any from ecology and focuses on exploratory, rather than hypothesis driven, analyses.Nonetheless, this book offers a useful background for those new to the vagaries of big data and would make a nice addition to the shelves of any data-heavy biogeography lab.
