Ad-hoc networks that are formed using mobile devices enable users to communicate information on the fly in the absence of a networking infrastructure or a centralized server and thus increase the convenience component of each device. This setup facilitates data transfer between nodes where each node essentially contributes to the routing process which is done in a dynamic fashion, enabling devices to join and exit the network seamlessly. This survey is aimed to present an overview of the various ad-hoc implementations designed over the Android architecture while highlighting the methodologies adopted by these implementations. Such implementations may be highly useful during rescue operations for natural disaster situations.
