In this paper, an improved interpolation-based Reversible Data Hiding (IRDH) scheme is modeled and analyzed. All possible embeddable bits are sought to be effectively utilized to minimize embedding distortion with higher embedding capacity. Particularly, we propose to utilize the correlation between the embeddable pixel and estimated versions of embedded pixel. This proposed modification would help avoid the use of any flag bit for distinguishing the original payload bits from their complement as such an extra payload bit can be embedded therein. Experimental results have demonstrated that our improved scheme can embed varying size payload with higher embedding rate and better image quality compared to the recent IRDH schemes. A better embedded image quality can be ensured for a given capacity requirement with a deterministically selected capacity control parameter for adaptive embedding.
