Cloud computing provides a common platform that delivers the various types of services to the user over the internet as on demand basis. Generally, the occurrence of failures is more in cloud computing environment due to large and complex cloud system. The great challenge here is to provide the reliable and guaranteed cloud services in the presence of different failures. Hence, failure handling in this new type of computing environment has become a critical requirement. We propose a new framework called Hybrid Failure Handling Approach for Guaranteed Service (HFH-GS) in Cloud Computing Environment. The HFH-GS strategy considers the failure information and the availability status of the cloud resources for executing client applications, handles the Resource and Virtual Machine (VM) failures and returns the successfully completed job within the deadline. HFH-GS selects the suitable resources by considering quality of service parameters such as computational and storage capability, user satisfaction and speed of the resources. If Resource or VM failure occurs, HFH-GS strategy recovers the failed job with the same or backup resource using the threshold value with minimum check-pointing and recovery time. Introduction of service level agreements take care of quality of service assurance and has made cloud computing more attractive for commercial applications. The experimental results demonstrate that the HFH-GS strategy can effectively select, allocate, monitor & recover and complete the client applications successfully within the user stated time deadline.
