Smartphone based mobile social networks have been increasingly popular over the last decade. Although the emerging cellular communication technologies have dominated a large portion in the market, the carry-and-forward based communication means, such as phone to phone communication, is still playing an important role in message exchanging of mobile social networks. One of the reasons is that it can help greatly reduce the energy and financial cost. Besides that, in many cases, it can be the only communication method when the infrastructures are destroyed, for example, in a catastrophe. However, in a phone to phone multi-hop network, the existing of adversarial users may put the message delivery in danger. The off-the-shelf techniques, such as heavy duty encryption scheme, may bring more energy consumption and higher delay. In this work, we focus on the energy efficient multimedia content broadcasting in a risky mobile social network. The proposed scheme can enable malicious users to help in relaying data while keeping good security performance. Therefore, both the efficiency and security can be balanced. Simulation results show the correctness of the security analysis and the performance improvement of the proposed strategies in a real trace of a social event.
