Most approaches to author identification focus mainly on lexical features and ignore syntactic features. This paper argues that, compared with the lexical features, syntactic features can represent plenty of grammatical information and are also irrelevant to the topic. So syntactic features should be widely applied in author identification. In this paper, the syntactic features, especially the syntax tree, are deeply analyzed, and some new features are presented. The experiment proves the validity and great potential of the syntax in author identification.
