Robust pre-authentication protocol for wireless network

Mohammed Aly Abdrabou · 2017

User authentication is very important in mobile networks; Evolved Packet System Authentication and Key Agreement (EPS-AKA) protocol used in 4thgeneration (LTE) networks to allow legitimate users access services. This algorithm has many security weaknesses, as DOS attack, reveal of user id, MITM, and Replay attack. In this paper, a proposed protocol called Robust Evolved Packet System Authentication and Key Agreement protocol (REPS-AKA) introduced to solve the security vulnerabilities of standard one. The proposed protocol contain a pre-authentication method based on Globally Unique Temporary Identifier (GUTI); this technique is efficient for mobile networks as a pre-authentication manner. To verify the efficiency of the protocol we used a tool called Scyther. Analysis done, using C language, by calculating the execution time for both algorithms. Validation for the proposed protocol, using C# language, is implemented using client-server application program.
