Automatic validation of UML specifications based on UML environment models

Shamshad Naveed · 2017

Automatic validation by means of testing involves model based software development. According to it, the software development process is carried on by building up models of the software that is constructed. The whole phenomenon mainly describes how the environment should behave when software operates in the given environment. In this new method software is not only tested and validated against its specifications (against the developed models), but it is also validated against its requirements. For this purpose, a priori, the model of the environment is also setup. Present paper is about modeling of requirement and domain knowledge of Cooperative Adaptive Cruise Control (CACC) of speed control in intelligent automobiles. Requirement R1 of the speed control is modeled based on the facts and assumptions of CACC. These models are developed using UML state machines and are already executed in TEAGER tool suite using on-the-fly testing approach. The paper has followed Jackson's Terminology extensively.
