fpp2: A masked form priming mega-experiment
Colin J. Davis · OSF Preprints (OSF Preprints) · 2017
This experiment is a follow-up to the Form Priming Project (FPP; Adelman et al., 2014). In that experiment we adopted a “Many Labs” approach to conduct a single large masked priming experiment with 28 prime conditions and over 1000 participants. This enabled us to obtain extremely precise measures of priming effects. In the process we learnt a lot about masked priming, both with respect to methodological aspects and theory. But there are further questions that remain, which warrants this follow-up study. As before, we will test 420 words and 420 nonwords with 28 prime conditions. A subset of these conditions will overlap with the original FPP, to facilitate comparison of the two data sets. We will also used computerised tasks to measure spelling ability, vocabulary and attentional control. Previous research has indicated correlations between these capacities and form priming.
