In a wireless network, nodes work jointly in supporting the network functionality. Malicious nodes are present in the network which will drop the packets purposely or accidentally and disorder the communications of any other node within the ad hoc network. Channel error and malicious node dropping the packets are two cause of dropping the packet in the wireless network. The main aim is to find out the reason behind the packet loss whether it is due to connection error only or both connection and malicious drop. In this paper we are finding out insider attacker where attacker node is a intermediate node of the route and dropping packets significant for network performance. Conventional method achieves low detection accuracy. In order to get better detection accurately we are using entropy method to ensure whether the packets are lost due to connection error or malicious drop and to make sure that calculation of entropy is truthful, we develop a public auditing architecture called homomorphic linear authenticator (HLA) which is to prove the detector the correctness of the packet lost information given by intermediate nodes.
