A wireless mesh network based temperature monitoring system for blast furnaces

Liu Chichao, Jiaqi Guo, Ruan Jingping, Ke Han, Han Tao · 2017

Normally in wired temperature monitoring system for blast furnaces, analog signals of thermocouples will be transmitted to main control room by compensating wires in long distance, which brings severe problems such as high cost, low reliability and maintenance difficulty. This paper reports the design and implements of a wireless temperature monitoring system for blast furnaces based on Wireless Mesh Network(WMN). A WMN based on Wi-Fi was built to connect all the thermocouple data acquisition node which has more than one routing to the main control room. The prototype system has been performed a trial run in a blastfurnace for more than six months, achieving a good result with stable operation. This WMN-based temperature monitoring system, which has high throughput, low cost, self-healing, self-organizing, high reliability, and good real-time performance, is an ideal alternative to wired monitoring system.
