MoCamMouse: Mobile camera-based mouse-like interaction

Liang Chen, Dongyi Chen, Xiao Chen · 2017

Mobile devices with direct touch input have already been ubiquitously used throughout the world. Limitations of direct touch input, e.g. hand occlusion and interaction through physical contact, lower user experience in many situations. In this paper, we present a camera-based mobile manipulation technique - MoCamMouse. MoCamMouse manipulation avoids hand occlusion and physical contact between the device and the pointing finger. Moreover, it enables mobile users with mouse-like interaction, including left-click, right-click, and long-press. We also show three application examples to demonstrate how to manipulate mobile user interface with MoCamMouse. The results of our user study reveal that most of the participants think that the MoCamMouse interactions are intuitive and easy-to-use.
