Software-defined networking (SDNs) has emerged as a new smart architecture for network programming and centralization. Due to some issues, such as single point of failure and scalability, distributed networks design was proposed. However, Security has remained a constant issue for the distributed controller's architecture in SDN. In this paper, we have proposed new authentication mechanism by using the Elliptic Curve Cryptography (ECC) algorithm based on PKI certificate method to enhance the security of the distributed controller's communication. The results demonstrate that our technique has many advantages due to low computational overhead, lower key length and resistance to attacks.
