FLUCTUATION SPECTRA FOR SYSTEMS OBEYING A DIFFUSION EQUATION

By considering the speq!ic problem of Brownian motion, we derive the frequency spectrum of fluctuations in the spatial integral of a quantity obeying a diffusion equation.The spectra are 1/f-like over large ranges of frequency for 1-, 2-, and 3-dimensional systems.Spectra from computer simulations confirm our calculations.
