Wavelet-Based Video Coding: Modem Implementations and Prospects of Coding Efficiency Increase

Discrete wavelet transform (DWT) have found a practical use in multiple applications of digital signal processing including image compression. Despite a set of advantages, DWT is still weakly used in modern video compression technique and systems. Here an observation of DWT usage prospects is presented for video coding in terms of multichannel wavelet video codec implementation.
