NN-sI concatenations in Turkish: construct state nominals and phrasal compounds

Metin Bağrıaçık, Angela Ralli · Ghent University Academic Bibliography (Ghent University) · 2014

We would like to thank Aslı Göksel and the audience of WAFL8 for their most constructive remarks. The usual disclaimers apply. 1 The vowel in capital in the citation form of the morpheme -(s)I(n) indicates an archiphoneme, i.e. phoneme whose feature is determined by vowel harmony.Segments in parentheses do not surface, or the reverse, in well-defined (morpho)phonological contexts; e.g. the fricative in -(s)I(n) surfaces only when it is preceded by vowel and the nasal surfaces only when there is another suffix following the -(s)I(n).
