A new image encryption method using circle

Sujit Kumar Das, Bibhas Chandra Dhara · 2017

In this article a new image encryption method is proposed. Here, an image is encrypted following confusion and diffusion phases like some other methods. In both of the phases, we have applied permutation over the data set. To define the permutation we have taken points on the perimeter of a circle and the points on the circle are selected with certain gap. Finally, these points are sorted and the desire permutation is obtained. The circle is defined by using a secret value `r' as radius, the points are selected at distance `d' (either in clockwise or anti-clockwise direction) and in the sorting method two options have used: i) which one will be primary key; ii) ascending or descending order. In confusion phase, we also have option on number of iterations. The performance of the proposed method is quite good against standard cryptanalysis attack and different options result a large key space.
