An article on this topic which appeared in Vol. 1 No. 1, p. 129 of I.J.E.E.E., outlined a few of the possibilities and results of using cathode ray oscilloscope displays recorded on magnetic tape.This article surveys the equipment used and gives details of some of the circuits employed.The system envisaged required four recording tracks with provision for direct monitoring facilities on two of these tracks.After the examination of a number of alternatives, the Collaro Studio tape deck was selected as being the most suitable for conversion.This deck, as supplied, was provided with (a) a record/replay head giving two quarter tracks, (b) an erase head
