Quality of service in networks with self-similar traffic

Gustavo Abraham Hirchoren, Nicolás Porrez, Braian La Sala, Iván Buraczewski · 2017

This paper offers a comparative analysis of quality of service (QoS) of the queuing disciplines Priority Queuing (PQ), Custom Queuing (CQ), Weighted Fair Queuing (WFQ), Class-Based Weighted Fair Queuing (CBWFQ) and Low-Latency Queuing (LLQ), with self-similar and long-range dependent traffic, through experimental measurements with routers. We take into account two different classes of traffic: real-time (video streaming) and non-real-time (FTP) and we use, in the router configuration, the information obtained from the Norros model for the traffic classes. In each of the queuing disciplines we measure the mean jitter and the packet loss for the video streaming traffic and the average throughput for FTP traffic.
