Hand gestures are intuitive and universal methods for interacting with computers. Various research related to hand gestures with Human-Computer-Interactions (HCI) have been reported in recent years. As hand gestures recognition tools, depth cameras detecting both depth and color information of target objects are widely used because of its non-contact and intuitive interaction merits. However, complex procedures and well-trained skills are necessary for calibrating the display with depth camera and virtual space. Moreover, calibration systems that depth camera is located diagonally across virtual space are cumbersome compared with the camera located at vertical direction. In this research, we propose a simple and time-saving 3D hand gestures calibration method for diagonal camera case. This method is suitable for 2 displays (front and table displays) interaction systems and expected to be widely used for hand gestures recognition system with high portability.
