This thesis presents novel insights and solutions for middleware-based security in future in-car networks and defines a car-wide access control model enforced at the middleware level for on-board and C2X communications. An authorization model based on information flow control was developed and coupled to two approaches for safe integration of third-party applications: a monitoring one based on isolation techniques and a controlling one relying on a custom data flow tracking framework. The implementation shows that this architecture can be realistically applied for the automotive purpose.
