SIRIUS: Systematic Investigation for Reliability Improvement Upon Software

Samjoon Park, Taehyoun Kim, Tae-Ho Lee, Sungkyu Noh · 2017

In this paper, we suggest a tool for applying software reliability engineering to develop reliable software in the field of Korea defense industry. The tool is named as Systematic Investigation for Reliability Improvement Upon Software (SIRIUS). SIRIUS consists of seven subsystems: system management system, project management system, workflow management system, software reliability analysis and assessment system, software reliability trends and issues management system, plug-in management system and software reliability data management system. Of these subsystems, the software reliability analysis and assessment system is the main subsystem of SIRIUS. SIRIUS provides software reliability analysis which is based on user-defined metrics and models from IEEE 1633 and IEEE 982. Users can analyze and assess the reliability of their software by using these metrics and models. We are expecting that SIRIUS can improve the software reliability and thus help many organizations that develop weapon system software after release in 2018.
