Global consensus emerges on biometric data protection

Data privacy is a hugely sensitive subject when it relates to the use of biometric information. Yet despite the very particular nature of such data, there are virtually no laws worldwide that specifically cover biometric data protection. Instead, current legal texts rely on provisions relating to personal data protection and privacy in the broad sense. But such legislation sometimes proves to be poorly adapted to biometric data, assuming there is any legislation at all.
