Psychoanalysis of characteristic contrast enhancement of digital mammogram image

The computer based mammogram image analysis focuses on the classification of the images into either benign, malignant or normal based on the features of the identified and segmented masses / lesions. This task remains as a challenge, when the size of Region of Interest is very small and the contrast / brightness of the images is not optimum. The image enhancement techniques greatly help to distinguish the foreground objects of the mammogram from the back ground. This research article presents two enhancement method using the Image-characteristics based contrast enhancement techniques. Modified Saturation method is used to enhance the mammogram image with reference to its characteristics values. Both the methods are validated by observations of human visual perception.
