High-speed link analysis with system identification approach

Yongjin Choi, Christopher Cheng · 2017

An alternative high-speed link modeling and analysis methodology is suggested based on the system identification approach, instead of using industry standard models. This approach is especially beneficial for the system design/analysis in that the steps are simple and the methodology is well established in other discipline. The modeling of link components like Tx/Redriver/Rx is performed with the identification techniques only using the input/output waveforms. The link analysis is performed with the pre-computed collection of the models, thus significantly reducing the simulation time. The optimal settings of Tx/Rx and the link performance are easily identified and evaluated.
