In 4G LTE, Home eNodeB (HeNB) can extend the scope of indoor communications, but it also has generated a new security threat that affects the confidence of telecommunication carriers. This study presents a self-protection mechanism for HeNB to prevent hackers from accessing a HeNB and controlling it in order to carry out attacks. In the last part of our study, the self-protection mechanism is compared with existing 3GPP solutions, showing the necessity for HeNB protection.
