The adaption of inertia weight in particle swarm optimization (PSO) is important manner for balance the capabilities of exploration and exploitation. According to the concept, we had completed the test for two chaotic maps called logistic map and tent map to opportunely give the adaption for the inertia weight of a PSO. Six test functions with 10 dimensions are used to evaluate their efficiency. By the comparison of the performed values, we get using logistic map is better than using tent map when to perform the adaption for the inertia weight of the PSO. Furthermore, from the convergence conditions, we also get using the logistic map is better than using tent map for the adaption of the inertia weight of the PSO. The result will be helpful for researchers to select chaotic logistic map as the adaptive manner of the inertia weight for PSOs when applying to other issues.
