User-profiles for Information Retrieval
Bas van Gils, E.D. Schabell · 2003
In this position paper we will investigate a novel architecture for profilebased retrieval on the Web called Vimes 1. This architecture is based on the fact that resources found on the Web should not only be topically relevant to a searcher’s query; other characteristics (such as the file format or structural format) of a resource are equally important. Furthermore, Vimes uses profiles to deal with user characteristics and constraints. 1
