Outdoor Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) in Precision Farming scenarios need to satisfy at least three different requirements: low energy consumption, weather robustness and network communication. In this extended abstract we focus on the communication of WSNs in a Precision Farming scenario, consisting of a tractor with a field sprayer and a deployed outdoor WSN. Therefore, we introduce "PotatoScanner," a mobile WSN node which is able to function as data mule and, thus, extends the WSN with a Delay and Disruption Tolerant Wireless Sensor Network (DTWSN) component. PotatoScanner can measure the surface temperature of plants and is controlled via an Android application. Furthermore, it is able to track all occurring Delay and Disruption Tolerant Network (DTN) events and allows detailed analysis of the DTWSN.
