Adaptive Physical Optimization in Hybrid OLTP & OLAP Main-Memory Database Systems
Florian Funke · 2015
Hardware developments in the recent past have facilitated in-memory database systems. Using this technology, the once separated areas of Online Transactional Processing (OLTP) and Online Analytical Processing (OLAP) can be reconciled in a single hybrid OLTP and OLAP system. This thesis investigates how physical optimization techniques, such as compression, can be integrated into the emerging class of hybrid OLTP and OLAP systems.
