The Snakes of Ladder Logic

The long-standing widespread use of the non-structured Ladder Logic programming language in companies is discussed, highlighting its inadequacy for use in the increasingly complex functions required by systems. It is reported that several programmable logic controller (PLC) suppliers such as Texas Instruments and Microsoft are making efforts to develop alternative programming tools.
