Family planning communications in Nigeria: consulting report.

This report concerns the development of an information program by the Family Planning Council of Nigeria (FPCN). Following an evaluation of the audience message medium and communicators of family planning materials the report outlines 3 recommendations for enhancing family planning promotion. 1st it is suggested that the dissemination of information from family planning clinics and branches to the FPCN be strengthened through a revised clinic activities pro-forma. 2nd to enhance the flow of information from the FPCN to family planning workers in the field it is recommended that a monthly newletter be developed. 3rd it is suggested that the FPCNs public information and education program be tightened by a clearer definition of audiences. Specifically a focus on the Nigerian elite and literate classes is recommended. To accomplish these 3 goals formation of an Information Unit within the FPCN is advised. The report additionally outlines internal and external sources of information and suggests possible research projects.
