Course Description and GoalsThis course is about programming languages.The main goal of the course is to provide you with the skills and knowledge necessary to understand and evaluate programming languages and constructs.This will enable you to:• effectively use language features in the languages you know,• learn new languages more easily because you understand how languages are designed, and • evaluate the suitability of a language for an application.Another goal of the class is that you develop your research, analysis, writing, and presentation skills through various assignments during the semester.As a Writing-Flag designated course, CSCI 300 has the following Core Student Learning Objective: Students find, evaluate, and logically convey information and ideas in written and oral presentations.This course will focus in particular on writing as a means of thinking about and learning as well as conveying information on various aspects of programming languages.We will also examine and practice the various types of writing used in the discipline of computer science, including literate programming. GradingYour grade will be based on 3 components: 1. exams (30%), 2. short writing assignments and homework (30%)
