Interactive Sample-Based Rendering of High-Resolution Data Sets
Florian Reichl · 2015
The amount of data to be handled by interactive 3D visualization systems has greatly increased in recent years. Reduction of these data volumes while preserving information content is thus of increasing importance, but often non-trivial to implement and highly application-dependent. This thesis introduces new, memory-efficient data structures based on discrete resampling to Cartesian grids to achieve this goal. It demonstrates their integration into a highly scalable GPU-driven rendering system.
