The process of exchanging information is called communication. Communication is done using wired media as well as wireless media. While communicating through wireless media data security plays a major role. Data security is mainly concerned with ensuring security during communication, transmission as well as in data storage. To protect data from intentional internal security breaches and unauthorized access from external user's cryptography is most widely used. Cryptography conceals the content of original message from all others except recipient and sender. At the recipient side, with no intervention of sender data will be decrypted into its original form with the help of key. Only by using the key the data will be transformed from unintelligible form to intelligible form. By using different algorithms keys are generated. If the algorithm is too complex and consumes more time to extrapolate the key then the algorithm used for providing data security is said to be stronger. Algorithm used for extrapolation of key should be difficult for hackers to reveal the key. In the proposed algorithm middle bit of the original data is taken as key. These bits are not transformed to any other form during the encryption. To enhance the security logical operations and Rail fence algorithm is applied.
