The purpose of this appHcation is to replace the neotype (now missing) of the Upper Jurassic ichthyosaur Ichthyosaurus trigonus Owen, 1840 by the holotype which has recently been found in the Benett collection at the Academy of Natural Sciences of Philadelphia.
